Mizoram Legislative Assembly goes digital by implementing NeVA

The Mizoram Legislative Assembly became one of the pioneering state legislatures to operationalize National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) and go digital. The first assembly session using NevA was conducted on 06 - Sep - 2022.

NeVA or paperless assembly encompasses information and communications technology to facilitate proceedings in the House. Through NeVA, the entire Assembly's session, from the Honourable Governor's address to the budget presentation, will be conducted digitally.

The Honourable Speaker Mr. Lalrinliana Sailo said, "With this session, we are operationalizing NeVA in Mizoram Legislative Assembly. We hereby extend our gratitude to The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India for funding the project. We appreciate the implementation agency, SBL Knowledge Services Private Limited for their commitment and hardwork in facilitating the implementation in a very short period."

NeVA equips the automation of the Legislative lawmaking process, real-time tracking of documents including reports, and the seamless sharing of information among stakeholders including creating a data repository and a provision for bilingual document access in English and a regional language. Further, the Legislative Members can smartly access any required information on handheld devices or on tablets and handle house business efficiently. With the implementation of NeVA, Mizoram Legislative Assembly will move towards becoming a paperless assembly, thereby saving several tons of papers, which in turn would help in saving lakhs of trees annually promoting cleanliness and achievement of UNDP Sustainable Development Goals.

Having conducted the first assembly session using NeVA, Mizoram Legislative Assembly plans to familiarise all the members with the new platform through ongoing training programs.

The Hon'ble Deputy Speaker, Mizoram Legislative Assembly inaugurated the Golden Jubilee Exhibition on 4.5.2022(Wed) at 11:00 AM at the goundfloor of Assembly House Annexe. This Exhibition has seen a large number of visitors since then. The Exhibition can be visited by any person who is interested and everyone is welcomed.
